# Putting an emoji in the subject line

> You can put an emoticon in the subject line, the previewtext or the newsletter itself via the smiley button or by copying one.

When filling in the subject line in step 1 of your campaign, click on the smiley on the right-hand side. This adds an emoticon to the subject line that your subscriber sees in their inbox. It helps your newsletter stand out a bit more among the other emails.

Keep the following in mind:

* Do not use too many emoticons.
* Almost all email clients display emoticons properly, though they may look different in each programme.
* It is best to place the emoticon at the end. If it is not displayed, this will be less noticeable.

Alongside the subject line, your subscriber also sees the [previewtext](/hoe-gebruik-ik-de-previewtekst) in their inbox. You can use emoticons in there as well.

## Using other emoticons or placing an emoji in your newsletter

Using the button next to the subject line, you can choose from the most commonly used emoticons, which are also displayed the best. If you are looking for a different one, or if you want to place an emoticon in the newsletter itself, you can find a complete overview at [unicode.org/emoji/charts/emoji-list.html](https://unicode.org/emoji/charts/emoji-list.html). Copy the emoji from there and paste it into the subject line or into your newsletter. If that does not work, use [emojigraph.org/nl/copy-keyboard](https://emojigraph.org/nl/copy-keyboard/) as an alternative.
