# What is the difference between the Social media and Share blocks?

> Choose between the 'Social media' block to link to your own channels and the 'Share' block to let recipients share your newsletter.

In the drag & drop editor, you can use two blocks for social media: one to link to your own channels, and one to allow the recipient to share your newsletter with their network.

## Adding buttons to your own channels

With the ‘Social media’ block, you can add clickable icons that link to your own profiles. For each icon, you can choose from eighteen channels, ranging from Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram to Spotify, TikTok, a general podcast link and a link to your own website.

You can find the full list and all settings under [placing, populating and customising the Social media block](/hoe-gebruik-ik-het-blok-sociale-media-in-de-drag-drop-editor).

## Allowing your newsletter to be shared

With the ‘Share’ block, you provide the recipient with buttons to share the web version of your newsletter or a custom URL on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, Pinterest, WhatsApp, Twitch, Bluesky and Mastodon. Read how to [place and edit the Share block](/hoe-kunnen-mijn-relaties-mijn-nieuwsbrief-direct-delen-met-anderen).

You can also manually include a share link to, for example, Facebook or LinkedIn in the text of your newsletter. Make sure to use the correct URL for this. You can create such a share URL on [sharelinkgenerator.com](http://www.sharelinkgenerator.com).
