# Placing a calendar link for an appointment

> Let subscribers add an appointment or event to their calendar with a single click via an .ics file or a link from Add Event.

With a button and a calendar link in your newsletter, subscribers can add an appointment or event to their own calendar with a single click. You create the calendar item itself outside Laposta.

> **Warning**
>
> For a link like this, you use applications that are not managed by Laposta. Laposta cannot guarantee their quality or how they work.

There are two ways to do this, and they differ in how reliably they work:

* Uploading an .ics file to Media and linking to it behind a button: this usually works.
* Creating a link with an external application. This first sends your subscriber to a separate page to add the event to their calendar: this always works.

## Placing an .ics file behind a button

First create the .ics file via your own calendar, or use an online tool if you do not want to put the appointment in your own calendar.

#### Via your own calendar

Create an appointment in your calendar (such as Outlook or Google Calendar) and save it to your computer as an .ics file.

#### Via iCal Event Maker

With the online tool [iCal Event Maker](https://ical.marudot.com/), you can create an .ics file without using your own calendar.

1. Click ‘New’ and enter the details: name, location, start and end time, description, and optionally a link to your website.
2. Set a reminder if needed, for example 15 minutes in advance.
3. Click the large red ‘Export events’ button.
4. In the window that opens, select ‘icalendar file’ and then ‘download .ics file’.

Upload the file to your account, as described in [Uploading files to Media](/hoe-sla-ik-bestanden-op). Then place a ‘Button’ block in your newsletter, click ‘Or link to file’ on the left, and select your .ics file.

## Placing an Add Event link behind a button

With [Add Event](https://www.addevent.com/), you create a separate calendar page and immediately receive the links to use in your newsletter. This is free up to 100 clicks; above that, it is a paid service.

#### Create an account

Click ‘Get started’ and create an account.

#### Create the event

Click the blue ‘Create event’ button, fill in all the details, and click ‘Create event’ again.

#### Choose the link you want to use

From the overview, choose a link for a specific calendar or a single link for all calendars at once.

#### Paste the link behind a button

Copy the link and paste it into the link field of a ‘Button’ block in your newsletter.
