# Sending a personal QR code for each subscriber

> Generate a personal QR code with data from your list via an external service and place it as an image in your campaign.

You can send each subscriber their own QR code containing a value from your list. Laposta does not generate these codes itself: you fetch them as an image from an external service and use a variable in the link to that image.

## What to prepare in advance

First, enter the data for the QR code into your list. To do this, fill in an existing field or create an [extra field](/hoe-maak-ik-extra-velden-aan-voor-mijn-lijst) for it. You can then populate that field all at once from an Excel or CSV file, as described under [importing a large subscriber file](/hoe-importeer-ik-een-groot-relatiebestand).

You will also need an external service that turns this data into a QR code, for example:

* [https://qr.io/](https://qr.io/)
* [https://goqr.me/](https://goqr.me/)
* [https://www.beaconstac.com/](https://www.beaconstac.com/)
* [https://www.qr-code-generator.com/](https://www.qr-code-generator.com/)

Some services are free, and you usually need to create an account first. Laposta cannot vouch for the quality of these services.

## Adding the QR code to your campaign

You can add the QR code as an image via the source code of a text block. This is an exception: normally, ‘Source code’ is [intended for the text and links within a block](/kan-ik-zelf-html-code-aan-mijn-nieuwsbrief-toevoegen), and you are personally responsible for any code you enter there yourself.

#### Open the source code of your text block

In your campaign, click on the text block where the QR code should appear and select ‘Source code’ above the text box.

#### Add the image with a variable

In the source code, enter the HTML for an image from the QR code service, including the variable for the value to be included in the code. This example uses [goqr.me](https://goqr.me/), which you can use free of charge and without registration:

```html
<img alt="QR-code" src="https://api.qrserver.com/v1/create-qr-code/?data={{veldnaam}}&size=200x200">
```

Replace \{\{veldnaam}} with the name of your variable. You can find this via Subscribers → your list → Settings → Fields. After `size`, you can specify how large the QR code should be, in pixels.

#### Check the code with a test email

The QR code is now visible in your newsletter. Send a test email and scan the code to check whether it contains the right information.

> **Tip**
>
> Use an address for this test email that appears in the list containing the QR data. If the address is not in the list, Laposta cannot look up the value and the code will remain empty.
