# Can I send a newsletter as plain text?

> Every campaign is sent as HTML, automatically including an unformatted version for email clients that do not display HTML.

Plain text is text without any formatting whatsoever: no bold or italic letters, no colours, no images, and no buttons.

You cannot send a campaign in Laposta that consists *exclusively* of plain text. Every campaign is sent as a formatted version (HTML).

## Automatic unformatted version

In the background, Laposta always creates a plain-text version of your newsletter and automatically sends it along with the formatted version. This is necessary because some email clients do not accept or display formatted emails. You do not need to set up anything for this yourself.

In that version, all formatting is lost. For a calendar that you [recreated using columns](/ik-heb-een-tabel-geplaatst-die-niet-goed-wordt-getoond-hoe-kan-ik-dit-oplossen), only the text remains, and images and buttons do not appear in it at all.

> **Tip**

> Would you like to send an email that looks like a simple, personal text email? Then choose an empty template in your account and only add a text block. Technically, you will still be sending an HTML email, but to the recipient it will look like a regular unformatted email.
