# Choosing a template in step 3

> In step 3, you choose a template with the layout, fonts and colours for your newsletter.

After [selecting the recipients in step 2](/stap-2-selecteer-ontvangers), you choose the design. The template determines the layout, fonts and colours your newsletter starts with. This way, you do not have to format every campaign in your own house style from scratch. You can also set up multiple templates for different types of newsletters.

The templates are grouped into sections. Which sections you see depends on what is available in your account.

| Section | What it contains |
| ------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------- |
| General templates - for drag & drop-editor | The templates available in every account |
| Saved templates | Templates you have saved yourself in step 4 |
| Imported templates: for special editor | Custom templates of the Joe type |

Among the general templates, the basic templates only have a fixed layout. The styled templates already include fonts, blocks and colours as well. Click ‘Preview’ below a template to view it in a separate window first.

Select the template of your choice and click ‘To Step 4’. You will then proceed to [filling in the template](/stap-4-vul-het-sjabloon). There you can add blocks, adjust the design and test what your newsletter looks like.

## Having a custom template made

Cannot get a template quite right, or lacking inspiration? With a paid account, Laposta's designers can build a template in your own house style. You will find this under ‘Import’. You can find more information about this in [Requesting a custom template](/wat-moet-ik-doen-om-een-ontwerp-op-maat-te-laten-maken). The different ways to get a template are compared in [Types of templates](/hoe-kom-ik-aan-een-sjabloon).
