# What does it mean if your testmail ends up in the spam folder?

> Causes and solutions if your testmail ends up in the spam folder or does not arrive.

A [testmail](/kan-ik-van-mijn-nieuwsbrief-eerst-een-testmail-versturen) is not sent under the exact same conditions as the final campaign: the word 'test' is added in front of your subject line, and the authentication is not 100% identical in all cases. As a result, spam filters assess this type of email more strictly, and the chance of it ending up in a spam folder or not arriving at all is higher than with a regular delivery. This can even happen if you have activated authentication.

A testmail in the spam folder therefore does not necessarily say anything about the delivery of the campaign itself. You can read how a spam filter assesses your newsletter during an actual delivery in [why your newsletter ends up in the spam folder](/waarom-komt-mijn-nieuwsbrief-in-de-spammap-terecht).

## Sending an actual campaign as a test

Normally, you send a proof using the testmail function in step 4. If you want to test how your newsletter arrives as an actual delivery, send the campaign in the usual way, but only to yourself:

#### Select only a test group in step 2

When selecting the recipients, choose a test group containing, for example, only your own email address. In this case, that address does not need to be marked as a test address.

#### Send the campaign in the usual way in step 6

Create and send the campaign just like a regular delivery. If you have activated authentication, it will be active for this delivery and the word 'test' will not be placed in front of your subject line.

#### Copy the campaign for the actual delivery

Copy your campaign after you have reviewed the test and select the right list or lists in step 2. You can still edit the copy and then send it, as explained in [easily and quickly creating a next newsletter](/hoe-maak-ik-makkelijk-en-snel-een-volgende-nieuwsbrief).
