# Preparing your list for a subscribe form

> First check the settings for your list, language, subscription notifications, opt-in and fields.

A subscribe form adopts the settings of your list. So make sure to configure these properly first. That way, you will not have to interrupt designing your form later on to adjust a language or a field. After that, you can choose the [type of subscribe form](/hoe-kom-ik-aan-een-aanmeldformulier) and start designing it.

#### Choose the list you are creating the form for

First, select the right list. A subscribe form belongs to one list: everyone who subscribes via that form will be added to that list.

#### Set the language of the list

Change the language of the list via Subscribers → Settings → General. Your form will adopt this language. You can choose from Dutch, English, German, French and Spanish.

#### Set whether you want to receive an email for each subscription

Indicate via Subscribers → Settings → General whether you want to be notified of each subscription.

#### Request double opt-in if needed

By default, new subscribers are added directly to your list (single opt-in). [Double opt-in](/moet-ik-double-opt-in-gebruiken), where they first receive a confirmation email, is disabled in all accounts and has to be enabled for you. If you would like to use this, please send an email to the helpdesk ([helpdesk@laposta.nl](mailto:helpdesk@laposta.nl)) before you start designing the form. This is only available with a paid account.

#### Create the fields you need

Create new fields in advance via Subscribers → Settings → Fields. There, you can also rename and permanently delete fields. While designing the form, you can only show, hide and rename existing fields.
