# Editing the fields in the embedded form

> Adjust the order, texts and formatting of the fields and submit button in your embedded form.

The fields in your embedded sign-up form come from your list: at least the email address, often the first and last name, and all the extra fields you have created yourself via [Fields for extra data](/hoe-maak-ik-extra-velden-aan-voor-mijn-lijst). By default, all these fields are included in the form.

## Editing the settings and order of fields

In the [form editor](/algemene-vormgeving-en-instellingen-van-het-ingebedde-aanmeldformulier), click on a field. The settings will appear on the left-hand side under the ‘Content’ tab.

| Setting | Explanation |
| --------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Text for the field | The name your visitor sees, for example First name. |
| This field is required | Whether someone must fill in the field to sign up. |
| Show placeholder instead of label | Whether the text is placed above the field, or in grey inside the field itself. |

You can change the order by dragging the fields in the form to the desired position.

## Setting the text on and above the submit button

Above the submit button, there is space for a short text, such as a reference to your privacy statement. Click on the button in the form and go to the ‘Content’ tab on the left. Here you can edit the text on the button itself and fill in the ‘Text above button (privacy statement)’ box. Use the formatting bar to add a link.

## Setting the thank-you text after signing up

When someone signs up, a thank-you text appears. Click next to one of the fields in the form and fill in the ‘Text for after submitting’ box on the left under the ‘Content’ tab.

## Editing the design of fields and the button

Click on a field or the button and select the ‘Design’ tab on the left-hand side to adjust the appearance of the fields, the button and the background. At the top of the panel, you can switch between ‘Desktop’ and ‘Mobile’, allowing you to set custom dimensions for both views.

| Setting | Explanation |
| ---------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Text size | The size of the text in the fields. |
| Padding | The space at the top, bottom, left and right inside the block. |
| Background color | The background of the form, for both desktop and mobile simultaneously. |

Settings for the entire form, such as the width and the display, can be found in [Display of the embedded form](/algemene-vormgeving-en-instellingen-van-het-ingebedde-aanmeldformulier).
