# Configuring the language of your list, forms and campaign

> Edit the default texts in your forms, automated emails and newsletter for subscribers who speak another language.

You can write the texts for your newsletter in any language. Laposta works entirely with UTF-8, which means all existing character sets are displayed, including Chinese characters, for example.

The default texts and messages in your forms, automated emails and newsletter are available in Dutch, English, German, French and Spanish. You configure this language in your list, your forms and your campaign. If you want your readers to be able to have a Dutch newsletter translated themselves, read [Having your newsletter translated automatically](/kan-ik-mijn-nieuwsbrief-automatisch-laten-vertalen).

## Configuring the language of your list

You can select one language per list. If you want to send newsletters to Dutch-, English- and German-speaking subscribers, you will need at least three lists.

Go to Subscribers (All lists) to create a new list, or click ‘Edit settings’ on an existing list.

Under ‘Language’, select the desired language. Your subscribers will then see the default messages in that language: the unsubscribe page after clicking the unsubscribe link in your newsletter and, if you work with double opt-in, the automatic confirmation email after they subscribe.

## Editing field names and forms

Edit the field names of your list via Subscribers → Settings → Fields. These names are automatically carried over to the embedded subscribe form, the [standalone subscribe form](/hoe-pas-ik-het-zelfstandig-aanmeldformulier-aan) and the edit form. For the standalone subscribe form and the edit form, you can also change the field names while designing the form. For the embedded form, this can only be done on the fields page.

You edit the texts of the forms themselves separately under Subscribers → Enrich. You only need to edit the elements you use:

| Element | Where to configure it | What to set in the right language |
| ------------------------ | -------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Standalone subscribeform | ‘Subscribe’ (option 1) | The form, the confirmation page (with double opt-in), the thank you page and the default texts, such as the message for an incorrectly completed field |
| Embedded form | ‘Subscribe’ (option 2) | The default texts of this form |
| Welcome email | ‘Subscribe’, at the bottom of the page | The built-in welcome email, which only exists in accounts created before 21 August 2018 (newer accounts use an [automation](/automatisch-een-weggever-versturen-na-een-inschrijving), which you translate in the email itself) |
| Edit form | Edit | The form, the request page, the thank you page and the default texts of this form |

You use the edit form for profile enrichment. Read how to properly configure the [language, fields and texts](/wat-moet-ik-doen-voordat-ik-het-wijzigingsformulier-opmaak) for that form all at once.

## Setting default texts in your newsletter to another language

Your newsletter contains two blocks with default texts: the preheader and the footer (with a paid account) or the Marketing block (with a free account). In step 4 of your campaign, click on the block to change the language:

* Preheader: go to Preheader → Content → 2nd column. Change the language of the default text at the bottom left of your screen to set the web version link in the right language.
* Footer or Marketing: at the bottom of your newsletter, click on the footer or on the Marketing block and select the right language under Content, so that the default texts (including the unsubscribe and edit links) are updated automatically.
