# What are the limitations of the free account?

> You can use Laposta permanently for free up to 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 sent emails per month, under these conditions.

You can try Laposta without obligation and use it permanently free of charge for up to 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 sent emails per month. There are no strings attached, neither now nor in the future.

The following conditions apply to the free account:

| Up to and including 2,000 subscribers   | Your account contains a maximum of 2,000 [subscribers](/begrippenlijst#active-subscriber).                                                       |
| Maximum of 12,000 sent emails per month | With a full account of 2,000 subscribers, that equals six newsletters per month to your entire list.                                             |
| A reference to Laposta                  | At the bottom of every newsletter you send, there is a modest reference with the Laposta logo in the footer below the unsubscribe link.          |
| One account per organisation            | You may apply for a maximum of one free account per organisation (company, association).                                                         |
| Support by email                        | The helpdesk answers questions about the free account by email. Unfortunately, telephone support is not feasible for free accounts.              |
| Maximum of 3 users                      | A maximum of 3 people can work in your account with their own login: yourself and [two colleagues](/hoe-maak-ik-voor-collegas-extra-logins-aan). |

With the free account, you can use most of Laposta's features, though not all of them. You are most likely to notice the following five limitations in practice:

* You cannot configure [permissions and roles](/hoe-stel-ik-rechten-in-voor-gebruikers), so every user has access to everything.
* The unsubscribe and edit links are located in the fixed promotional block instead of in a [footer you design yourself](/waar-vind-ik-de-webversie-wijzigings-en-afmeldlink).
* You cannot have [double opt-in](/moet-ik-double-opt-in-gebruiken) enabled.
* You cannot have a [custom template](/wat-moet-ik-doen-om-een-ontwerp-op-maat-te-laten-maken) designed.
* You cannot have the recording of opens and clicks [restricted or deactivated](/tracking-en-rapportage).

## How are the 2,000 subscribers counted?

The limit applies to both your active subscribers and your unique subscribers at the same time. Neither count may exceed 2,000.

* Laposta counts active subscribers per list. If the same email address is in two lists, it counts as two active subscribers. Subscribers who have unsubscribed or who can no longer be reached due to a hard bounce are not included in the count.
* Unique subscribers are the unique email addresses across your entire account. That same address is counted once there, regardless of how many lists it is in. This count runs over the entire lifetime of your account: email addresses you delete later also continue to count.

In your account overview under ‘Subscription’, you can see how many active subscribers you currently have, and how many unique subscribers you have had so far.

## What happens if you exceed the limit?
