A subscriber unsubscribes. Will they be unsubscribed automatically?
Yes, a subscriber who uses the unsubscribe link in your newsletter to unsubscribe for the next newsletter will automatically be removed from your list. Subscribers who unsubscribe using the Gmail or Outlook.com web interface will also be removed automatically.
After unsubscribing, you will now longer find this subscriber in your overview of Active subscribers, but in the Unsubscribes tab.
You can add an unsubscribes back into your list of active subscribers. To do so, click the box of the subscriber. You will get the option to either activate your subscriber(s), or to delete them permanently from your list. Please note: you can only reactivate your subscriber when you have received explicit permission (again) to send them newsletters.
Permanently deleting unsubscribes
Unsubscribed subscribers will remain saved in the Unsubscribes tab by default. This can be useful to prevent unsubscribed addresses from being subscribed again during a large import. Sometimes it might be useful to delete the unsubscribes, for instance with regards to the GDPR. You can do this on the page Subscribers → Edit settings (for the relevant list) → General; under the heading 'Delete unsubscribes', you can indicate after how many days you want your unsubscribed subscribers to be permanently deleted from the Unsubscribes.
