Automation building block: If/then

This building block allows you to split your automation into two different 'paths'. One path for subscribers that meet certain conditions, and another path for subscribers that don't.

Multiple conditions

You can enter multiple conditions. For each condition you can choose whether it should narrow the selection (i.e. the new condition must also be met) or extend the selection (i.e. meeting one of the conditions is sufficient).

You can tell whether the condition is narrowed or extended by the '- AND -' and '- OR -' conjunctions that are placed between the conditions.

Condition based on the value of a field

Here you can indicate that a field must have a certain value.

List

Select the list from which the current subscriber in the automation should originate. (A subscriber in an automation can originate from several lists, depending on the selected start event. If the subscriber is from a different list, this condition is ignored. You can set additional conditions for other lists if required).

Field

Which field must meet a value?

Changes to

Here you indicate at which value the condition is met.

Condition based on an action

Here you will find a comprehensive list of actions from which you can choose. The actions relate to sending, opening and clicking in email.

Send

Do you want to select subscribers who have received an email or campaign? Or those who have not? You can indicate it here.

Open

Do you want to select subscribers who have opened an email or campaign? Or those who have not? You can indicate it here.

Click

Do you want to select subscribers who have clicked in an email or campaign? Or those who have not? You can indicate it here.

Condition based on date or time

You can indicate that a certain time condition should be met.

First, select a time unit (hour, day of the week, day of the month, month or year). Then you indicate whether the condition is met if the moment is equal to the selected value, or before or after the selected value. Finally, select the value.

For example, you can specify that the automation should follow one path on a Monday, and the other path on other days.
