How do I add an image to my newsletter?
To add an image to your newsletter, you can use the 'Image' block, or the 'Text with image' block.
- You can insert a new image by clicking the (green) + Select on the left side of the screen, and uploading an image from your computer.
This has to be a .png, .jpg, or .gif-format. - If wanted, you can add a link and an alt-text to an image. The link directs your subscriber to a website. The alt-text is what your subscriber sees if the images have not loaded yet when they receive your newsletter.
- Do you want to edit the image? We have a special editor for that. Put your cursor on the image in the newsletter and click on the text that appears above the image: 'Edit image' or 'Edit'. You can read here how you can easily edit an image in our application.
Text with image
You can add one image for each 'Text with image' block. This image will always be placed at the top of the block, on the left or right side. Go to the tab Text with picture → Settings, to change the position of the image to the left or the right side of the text block.
You can never place an image in the middle of the text. You can do this indirectly, by placing multiple text blocks with images under each other. Or by working with columns and dragging blocks with texts and images into those. It's up to do if you want to take either of these options. An image in the middle of the text is rare, even in newspapers and magazines. Reason: readers will no longer know how to read the text.
In the Image block, you can show the image a little smaller - not along the full width - by editing the inner margin of the block. To do so, go to Image → Design → Block. The height/width proportions of the image remain the same, you have to edit those outside of our application.
Finally, if desired, you can add a caption to the image. For this, put a text block under the image; you can reduce the distance between the image and the text in the formatting of the text block.
Background image
You can add a background image to the exterior of your newsletter. First, click on the newsletter's exterior. Next, go to 'Blocks and global design' on the left side on the screen, click Global design → Exterior.
Do you want the background image to be visible in other blocks too? Then you have to remove the background colour of the midsection. To do this, go to the 'Blocks and global design' tab → Global design → Midsection. Next to the 'Background colour' subheading, you will see a 'Remove' link. If it still doesn't look right, check if you have previously entered a background colour for the individual blocks.
When using a background image, it's advisable to also choose a background colour. Images are not loaded immediately in every email client; in that case, the background colour is visible first.
