How do I import my newsletter from the internet?
To import your (nearly) ready-made newsletter from the internet, do the following:
- Start a new campaign (on the page Campaigns → Browse)
- Click the link 'Choose a different campaign type'.
- Next, select 'Import'.
Start with the five-step plan
You can now create you campaign in five steps.
1. Enter basic data
Start by entering, among other things, the sender name and address, the subject and the preview text. See also: Basic data.
2. Select recipients
Select to which subscriber list(s) and/or segment(s) you want to send your campaign. Indicate in what field you have registered their birthdays. See also: Select recipients.
3. Import email
Now you can import your newsletter. To do so, select the option ' Import from internet'.
You can now indicate from where (which URL) you want to import your newsletter. Laposta will then retrieve the newsletter page. Laposta automatically adds the accompanying style-sheets to the page. Laposta retrieves the accompanying images as well; these are saved in your account.
Laposta adjusts links in your newsletter, to measure how many times they are clicked after you send your newsletter.
After importing (but still in step 3), you can alter the imported HTML with the HTML-editor. This way, you can still personalise your newsletter. You can add the unsubscribe-link yourself, or you can opt to have Laposta add it automatically.
After importing (using the Preview button), you can check how your newsletter will look for your subscribers. With the Test mail button, you can send the newsletter to yourself and others to inspect it.
For explanation:
- Laposta adds the external style-sheets to the HTML because these are not possible in email clients. In step 3, you can choose to have your CSS placed inline. In that case, the styles are inserted as attributes if all separate HTML-tags.
- The inline placing of style-sheets is needed to make sure your newsletter is shown properly in a number of important email clients (notably Gmail and Outlook). We recommend that you choose this.
- Sometimes the inline placement of style-sheets causes the newsletter page to be displayed wrongly. This mostly happens with complex CSS. In that case, it's best to simplify the CSS. If necessary, you can disable inlining.
4. Last check
With the final check, you can inspect your birthday campaign again. It also allows you to see the selected recipients and basic data you entered, along with the newsletter.
5. Schedule delivery
Now you can determine when your campaign should be sent to your subscribers. You can do this directly, or use the task planner on the screen. You can also enter which email address should receive a confirmation when the newsletter is sent.
