Moving from Mailchimp

If you want to switch from Mailchimp to Laposta a few steps are required.

Transfer of subscriber files

What is called a ‘list’ in Laposta is referred to as ‘audience’ in Mailchimp. From the Mailchimp home screen, click on 'View Audiences', and then on the audience you want to transfer.There is a button that says 'Export Audience'. Click this button and then on 'Export As CSV' and you will have all the data transferred to your computer.

The data are stored in a zip file.You can extract this by double clicking on it.

Now in Laposta, go to the tab Subscribers. Here you can create a list into which you can import the exported data. To do so, click on 'Create a new list' and fill in the details.

Now go to the tab 'Add' and select the file you just extracted (it ends in '.csv').

Choose ‘Add new subscribers’ and click on ‘to Step 3’ (at the bottom of the page). Laposta now shows a preview of the data found in the export. For each entry you can choose whether or not to import it.A detailed guide can be found on the page about imports.

Tip: do you also want to import your tags? You can do this by simply creating a Tags field and segmenting this later. You can also create an extra field during the import, by going to the 'Your List' column, and changing 'No, don't import this column' to 'Yes, create new multiple choice field (multiple options to choose)'. Before the import, you can first create an extra field through Subscribers > Edit Settings > Fields, and clicking the button 'Add new field'. Then under 'Type', select 'Multiple', and under 'Selectable', 'Choose multiple'.

Proceed by clicking through and your subscriber file will be ready in Laposta.

By the way, if you use the program Mailchimp for free you may only use one list ('audience'). In Laposta, you can create any number of lists.

Transferring templates

Mailchimp and Laposta both have a handy drag & drop editor, but unfortunately it is not possible to import a template created in Mailchimp. The newsletter will therefore have to be reformatted. By doing so, you will immediately learn how to use our drag & drop editor. In case you have trouble figuring this out, there is a manual available.

Automations

In Laposta you can make use of all the functionalities offered by Automations, even if you have a free account. This allows you to set up automatic email flows.

Transferring an automation is not possible. This means they will have to be rebuilt in Laposta.
