Sending a welcome email for a new subscription
There are two ways to automatically send a welcome email to new subscribers. The best way is to use an automation that starts as soon as someone subscribes. This works in every account, and it lets you decide the content, timing and follow-up steps yourself. You can read how to set this up in Welcome email and giveaway.
There is also a standard welcome email in the list settings. However, you can only set this up and activate it if your account was requested before 21 August 2018.
Activating the standard welcome email
Go to Subscribers → your list → Enrich → Subscribe to set up and activate the welcome email.
Once the email is active, it will be sent immediately after subscription when using single opt-in. If you use double opt-in, the welcome email will only be sent after your subscriber has confirmed the subscription.
Editing the content of the welcome email
You can personalise the text using subscriber variables such as first name, last name or gender. You can also include a link to your own website, or to someone else’s.
If you want to include a file, such as an e-book, you can place a download link in the text:
If someone is already on your list
Anyone who is already active on your list will not be added again when they subscribe again, and therefore will not receive another welcome email either.
It is not possible to immediately show someone a message when subscribing, such as ‘You are already subscribed to this newsletter’. This is because adding a new subscriber happens asynchronously: the subscription is placed in a queue first and is only processed afterwards. This keeps the Laposta system stable and reliable.
