Configuring the WordPress plugin Signup Basic
With the Signup Basic plugin, you can place an embedded subscribe form in your own style anywhere on your WordPress website. Immediately after installation, the form consists of plain HTML. You can adjust the CSS and the other settings in your WordPress admin area. You can install the plugin directly from WordPress, or download it via wordpress.org/plugins/laposta-signup-basic.
Signup Basic is one of Laposta’s three WordPress plugins. If you do not want to style the form yourself, use Signup Embed.
The plugin only works on a WordPress site where you can install plugins yourself. On wordpress.com, this is possible with a paid subscription.
Installing and configuring the plugin
To connect to Laposta, you need an API key from your account.
Install the plugin in WordPress
In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin. Search for Laposta Signup Basic, click ‘Install Now’ and then ‘Activate’.
Connect to Laposta
Go to ‘Settings’ and enter your API key. Your lists will then appear in WordPress.
Making changes to list fields visible
If you have modified the fields of a list, refresh the plugin. To do this, go to ‘Settings’ and click ‘Reset Cache’.
Showing your form in a Lightbox popup
If you want to show your form as a Lightbox popup, you can extend Signup Basic with the additional plugin ‘Laposta Newsletter Signup Popup’. Vera de Kok developed this plugin and published it on GitHub. The plugin displays your embedded form as soon as a visitor has scrolled down a third of a page.
Anyone who subscribes will not see a popup for a year. Visitors who close the window will not see the popup again for a week. View and download the plugin via the Laposta-popup repository.
