Starting an automation on a date in your list

With this starting event, you can start an automation when a date is reached for a subscriber. You specify a date, which is then compared to a date field in one of your lists. For example, this allows you to send an email on a birthday or when a contract expires.

Which list?

Select the list that contains the date field.

Which field?

If there are multiple date fields in the list, select the relevant field.

When?

The automation can start immediately when the date is reached, or earlier or later. To do this, select ‘Before’ or ‘After’ and specify how many days, weeks, or months before or after.

Based on day and month, or day, month, and year?

Specify whether the automation should start annually based on the day and month, or once by also including the year. With this starting event, there is no separate choice between once and multiple times, as you determine that with this setting.

Choosing day and month is useful for birthdays or annual contracts. The automation will then start again each year for the same subscriber. Day, month, and year is suitable for non-recurring events, such as a wedding or the end of a contract.

The date field is checked once a day at night. The automation will start for every subscriber who meets the condition at that moment.
