Sending a birthday email to a shared email address
Laposta automatically deduplicates email addresses. You can only enter an address once per list, and even when sending to multiple lists, the same address will receive a newsletter at most once. This is how Laposta prevents a recipient from receiving the same newsletter multiple times and perceiving the emails as spam.
At associations and schools, a family often shares a single email address, while each family member has their own birthday. There are two ways to resolve this. The first method requires a separate list for each extra family member, while the second requires a separate campaign. Which approach is most convenient depends mainly on how you have entered your subscribers. For more information, see Entering subscribers for a school or association.
Working with multiple lists and one campaign
Place the second person from the family in a second list, the third in a third list, and so on. You can then send a single birthday campaign to all of those lists at the same time.
If two people with the same email address have their birthday on the same day, Laposta will still only send one birthday email when using this method.
Working with one list and multiple campaigns
Use a single list and include the names and dates of birth of all family members alongside the family’s email address. To do this, you add fields such as name 1 and date of birth 1, name 2 and date of birth 2, and so on.
Next, set up a birthday campaign for each family member: one campaign based on the date for name 1, one based on the date for name 2, and so on. This ensures that all family members receive their own birthday email.
