What do the tracking settings for opens and clicks record?

To show you how often your newsletter has been opened, which links have been clicked and who exactly did so, Laposta records the behaviour of your recipients. When a newsletter is opened, an invisible image is loaded. When a link is clicked, the reader is first routed through Laposta’s servers so that it can be recorded who clicked on which link.

You can read about everything that is measured in the guide to Opens and Clicks per campaign and in the statistics per subscriber.

Recording this data infringes on the privacy of the readers of your newsletters, and not everyone wants to make that infringement.

Limiting or disabling tracking

To protect the privacy of your recipients, you can choose from three settings. Each setting differs in what Laposta records and what you see in the results.

SettingWhat Laposta recordsWhat you see in the results
No tracking, maximum privacyNothing: no invisible images in your newsletters and no links routed through Laposta’s servers. Not who opens or clicks, only data on bounces and unsubscribes.
Tracking enabled, no personal resultsAll data, just like with full tracking.Only aggregated figures: for example, how often a link was clicked, but not who clicked it.
Full trackingAll data.As many interactions as possible: whether your newsletter was opened, whether links were clicked, and by whom exactly.

Full tracking is the default setting. The other two settings are only available if you have a (paid) subscription. By design, you cannot enable these two settings yourself in your account. Send an email to helpdesk@laposta.nl to have one of these options activated in your subscription.
