Configuring authentication at your domain provider
You need to add the records that Laposta prepares for your domain in the DNS management panel of the provider where you registered your domain name. The records themselves are the same everywhere. Only the place where you enter them, the field names and the button you use to save them differ per provider.
To find out where to locate the records for your own domain and how the entire process works, read Domain authentication step by step (this page belongs to step 3).
Which records to add
This involves two CNAME records and, if Laposta indicates this for your domain, a DMARC record of the TXT type. Laposta shows the exact names and values for your domain. Copy and paste these instead of typing them out yourself.
If your provider asks for a TTL, leave it at the default value. If you are required to enter a value yourself, one hour (3600 seconds) is sufficient.
Only one DMARC record may be active per domain. If there is already one there, leave it in place and consult your domain administrator before changing it. You can simply leave the other records in your DNS as they are: you are only adding lines and not replacing anything.
Step-by-step guide per provider
Select your provider below. The steps on each page follow the exact screens you will go through.
- Authentication with Antagonist
- Authentication with Hosting2GO
- Authentication with Hostnet
- Authentication with Jimdo
- Authentication with JouwWeb
- Authentication with Mijndomein
- Authentication with Strato
- Authentication with TransIP
- Authentication with Yourhosting
One exception: at Jimdo you cannot configure all the required CNAME records, which means authentication for Laposta is not possible there. What you can do instead is explained in Authentication with Jimdo.
Is your provider not listed?
Look for DNS, DNS management or DNS settings in your provider’s control panel and add the same records there. The general guide in Domain authentication step by step will show you the way.
Activating authentication in Laposta
Once you have added the records at your provider, you can activate the authentication in Laposta. Go to Settings → Authentication, click on ‘Show instructions’ and then click on the ‘Activate’ button that appears. From that moment on, your domain is authenticated.
If activation does not work yet, your DNS changes have probably not yet propagated everywhere. Wait a few hours and try again. After activation, Laposta checks daily whether your authentication remains active.
