Why do you still have a sending block with fewer than 2,000 subscribers?

Have you deleted a list to get back under 2,000 subscribers, only to find you still cannot send? That is not an error. For the free account limit, Laposta counts the total number of unique subscribers over the entire lifetime of your account, including email addresses you deleted later on.

Otherwise, it would be possible to bypass the limit by replacing your list before every mailing. This is also why your total doubles if you re-import your entire list each time. An email address that you add again to a different list is not counted twice, but every new email address is, and deleted email addresses continue to count towards the total. You can read more about this in Deleting subscribers to stay below the free limit.

Two different messages for a sending block

There are two different messages when a sending block is in place. The first appears as soon as you currently have more than 2,000 active subscribers:

Your free account can be used for up to 2,000 subscribers. You currently have more than 2,000 active subscribers. We have therefore blocked the sending of campaigns.

The second message appears if you have exceeded 2,000 unique subscribers over the entire lifetime of your account. With this message, deleting lists or subscribers will not help:

Our free account is intended for organisations with a maximum of 2,000 subscribers. Therefore, the sending of campaigns has been blocked.

Viewing your number of subscribers

Go to Subscription → Rate. Here you will see two numbers next to each other: ‘Current number of active subscribers’ and ‘Total unique subscribers’. The first number is what you currently see in your lists; the second is what triggers the block. If these two numbers are far apart, you can immediately see why the block is active.

Sending campaigns again

Above 2,000 subscribers, Laposta is no longer free. There are two ways to continue. You can arrange both via Subscription → Rate:

  • Choose a subscription if you send campaigns regularly.
  • Buy mailcredits. This is usually more cost-effective if you only send a newsletter a few times a year.

You can read what both options cost and which one suits you best in Laposta’s rates and What is included in a paid subscription.

Imported the wrong file

Did you accidentally import the wrong file and delete it straight away? If so, send an email with your account number to the helpdesk. Lifting the block is not guaranteed, but the helpdesk will look into it for you. You can find your account number in the message on your screen and under Login → My data.
