Sending your newsletter with a delay
Newsletters often contain links to websites. Laposta checks whether they are all accessible before sending. When your readers click on those links, they do not all do so at the same time. That traffic is therefore spread out and does not cause any problems for your website.
Why your website can become overloaded during sending
Automated filters, however, can be a problem. Many organisations use such filters to prevent employees from receiving spam and phishing emails. These filters check all incoming emails and follow every link to see whether the websites they point to are trustworthy.
Because sending a campaign happens very quickly, at thousands of emails per minute, those filters can also request the links at lightning speed. Not every website can handle thousands of clicks within a few minutes. As a result, your website may become slow or even go down completely.
Because of these filters, you may also see clicks in your statistics that do not come from a reader. You can read more about this in Bot filter for scanner clicks.
Having your campaigns sent more slowly
Does your website go down after sending a large campaign? Please contact the helpdesk at helpdesk@laposta.nl. The helpdesk can slow down the sending of your campaigns so that the load is spread out.
