Transferring addresses from an Outlook contact group to Excel

If you want to import into Laposta email addresses from Outlook, first place them in an Excel file. You can copy the addresses from a saved contact group or from an email message.

Copying addresses from a saved contact group

1

Open your contacts in Outlook

Start Outlook and click the ‘People’ icon in the bottom left (or go via Home → People). Find the mailing group or contact group that you want to transfer.

2

Open the contact group

Double-click the group to open it in a new window.

3

Copy the email addresses

Select all members of the group, for example with Ctrl+A. Right-click and choose ‘Copy’.

In some versions of Outlook, you first need to click ‘Members…’ or ‘Expand list’ to see and select the email addresses.

4

Paste the data into Excel

Open Excel, click cell A1 and paste the data with Ctrl+V. The email addresses are now in your worksheet as text.

Copying addresses from an email message

If the addresses are in the To, CC or BCC field of a received or sent email, you can copy them directly from there.

1

Open the email in Outlook

Open an email that contains multiple addresses.

2

Copy the addresses

Select all addresses in the field, right-click and choose ‘Copy’ (or use Ctrl+C). If you cannot select the addresses individually, first click … → Show all fields, or double-click the field so that you can see the full list.

3

Paste the addresses into Excel

Open Excel, click cell A1 and paste the data with Ctrl+V. Depending on the formatting, the addresses will appear in a single cell or across multiple rows.

Splitting data into separate columns

If there are multiple pieces of data per row, such as a name and an email address together, place them in separate columns:

1

Open Text to Columns

In Excel, go to Data → Text to Columns.

2

Choose the delimiter

Choose ‘Delimited’ and select the delimiter, for example a comma or a semicolon.

3

Complete the split

Click ‘Finish’.
