What types of templates are there?

The template determines what your newsletter looks like: the layout, the colours, and the sections you fill in for each campaign. There are three ways to get a template. Which one suits you best depends mainly on how much you want to design yourself and whether you can code in HTML. At the bottom of the table, there is a fourth option for when you do not need a template.

OptionWhat you do yourselfWhat you need
Ready-made templateChoose an existing design and adjust it in the drag & drop editorNothing, these templates are ready to use in every account
Building a template yourselfCode your design in HTML and import itHTML knowledge
Custom designShare your wishes, and the designers at Laposta will build the templateA paid account
Ready-made newsletter, so no templateLoad a complete newsletter from outside Laposta as a campaignThe HTML of that newsletter

Note the difference in the names: a ready-made template is a design in Laposta that you fill in again for each campaign. A ready-made newsletter is a complete newsletter from outside Laposta that you send once. You can read how to load this in Importing your ready-made newsletter.

Choosing and adjusting a ready-made template

The ready-made templates have been created by professional designers for the drag & drop editor. You are free to use them: they are ready to use straight away and easy to adjust.

When creating a campaign, you can choose a template in step 3. In step 4, you can adjust the structure and design. Click ‘Save as template’ to save your adjustments for next time. You can read more about this in Saving and copying an adjusted template.

All ready-made templates can be found under Campaigns → Templates → Drag & drop. If you prefer to start with a blank template and build the structure and design yourself, choose the ‘Basic-Empty’ template.

Coding a template yourself in HTML

You can also build your template yourself in HTML. Using special Laposta tags, you determine which sections can still be modified while filling in the newsletter.

To import the template, go to Campaigns → Templates → Custom and click ‘Import new template’. The requirements your HTML must meet are listed in Importing a self-made template in Laposta.

Having a custom design made

If you have a paid account, the designers at Laposta can design and code a template completely according to your wishes. This is called a Joe: a custom-coded template with its own editor.

Taking over a template from another user

If a colleague with their own account, a client, or an agency has a template ready for you, they can share it with you via a share link. With a single click, you can then import a copy into your own account. How this works is explained in Sharing a template with a share link.
