Building your newsletter in the editor

In Laposta’s drag & drop editor, you build a newsletter step by step. You can adjust the display for mobile phones separately, without affecting the layout on a desktop or laptop. This is useful, as on average more than 40% of people in the Netherlands read their email on a smartphone.

Trying things out is the fastest way to get to know the editor. You can undo changes using the ‘Cancel’ button at the bottom left of your screen.

Building your newsletter

The steps below apply both to a template you build from scratch and to editing and filling a ready-made template.

1

Give your newsletter structure first

From the ‘Blocks’ tab, first drag some of the eleven types of content blocks to the right into your newsletter. Hold down your mouse button while dragging and release it in the desired position. A yellow line shows where the block will be placed.

By default, blocks are placed one below the other. If you want several blocks side by side, first drag a columns block into your newsletter and then fill the columns with other blocks.

Click the desktop and mobile phone icons to decide for each block whether it is displayed, hidden, or adjusted on desktop and mobile. To do this, tick or untick ‘Hide this block on desktop’ and ‘Hide this block on mobile’.

You can drag an unlimited number of blocks into your newsletter, but keep your newsletter as compact as possible.

You can read which blocks are available and what you can configure for each block in Blocks in the editor.

2

Set the design via Global design

Go to Blocks & Design → Global design (formerly Overall formatting) to style the outer area, the body, and optionally the borders of your newsletter. Here, you can enter your house style elements all at once, so you do not have to do this for each block individually. Click ‘Body’ to choose the font and its appearance.

Click the phone icon next to ‘Global design’ to configure the display on a mobile phone.

3

Customise the content and design of each block

Click a block in your newsletter to adjust its content, design, and settings on the left side of your screen. Using the ‘Design’ tab, you can make a block differ from the configured global design.

Click ‘Save’ or ‘Cancel’ when you are done. You will then return to the blocks overview, just as when you click on the outer area of your newsletter.

4

Add, move, or delete blocks

Hover your mouse over a block in your newsletter and use the icons in the grey bar at the top to move, copy, or delete the block.

For a columns block, these options are located to the left of the box, in a green vertical bar. The icons in the grey bars inside a columns block belong to the individual block within the column, not to the columns block itself.

Testing before you send

Click ‘Preview’ at the top of your screen to see what your newsletter will look like to your subscribers. Click ‘Testmail’ to send the newsletter to yourself to check it.
