Using the Joe editor
A Joe template is a custom template in your own house style. Fonts, colours and layout are fixed, without you having to delve into the code. This ensures the design of your newsletters always remains consistent, even when different users work in your account. You fill in the template in step 4 of your campaign.
Choosing and placing blocks
On the left of your screen is an overview of all available blocks, already styled in your house style. You can place them in two ways:
- Drag a block from the menu to the desired spot in your design.
- Click the blocks you want to use in the menu. They will automatically appear in your newsletter, after which you can drag them into the right order.

Editing text directly
Click inside the text area in your design and start typing. When you select a piece of text, a floating toolbar with formatting options, such as bold, italic and bulleted lists, appears directly above the block.

Switching between variants and duplicating blocks
If you want a different colour scheme or style for a block, choose another variant from the drop-down menu in the bar above the selected block. The text you entered and the images you chose will remain in place. You can also duplicate the entire block: the copy appears directly below the original.

Moving and editing images
Drag one of the corners to resize an image to the desired dimensions. Use the buttons to set the position: aligned left or right, or centred across the full width. Open the photo editor to crop the image, apply filters or add text on top of it. You can read how to replace, crop and scale an image in Editing an image in your custom template of the Joe type.

Loading and editing an RSS feed
When you have a custom Joe template made, you can opt for a feature to load RSS feeds. This allows you to load current articles directly into your newsletter. Once Joe has loaded the title, text and image, you can still edit or shorten them in the editor.

Checking and testing
Click ‘Undo’ or ‘Redo’ in the top bar to undo or redo your last actions. Click ‘Preview’ to see what the newsletter will look like. In the mobile view, you can scroll through the design with your mouse to see how it looks on a phone. Finally, you can send yourself a test email.

In the test email window, you can enter multiple email addresses at once, so you can share the result with colleagues in one go.
