Creating a table of contents with internal links
There are two ways to link to a section further down in the same newsletter: automatically using the ‘Content’ block, or manually using anchor links. A link to a website, email address or file works differently. You can read how to place those in Placing a link in your newsletter.
Automatically creating a table of contents
In the drag & drop editor, drag the ‘Content’ block into your newsletter. All titles from the ‘Text’ and ‘Title line’ blocks will automatically appear here, with a link to the corresponding section.
Do you not want to show a title in the table of contents? Click the block containing that title, open the ‘Settings’ tab on the left and select ‘Hide from table of contents’.

Under the ‘Design’ tab, you can configure the formatting of the text, the box and the exterior, separately for desktop and mobile. There you can also indicate whether you want to hide the table of contents on desktop or mobile, copy the design to all other ‘Content’ blocks, or use this formatting as the default for new content blocks. These options work the same way as for the other blocks; see The content blocks in the drag & drop editor.
If you work with a custom template of the Joe type, that template can also automatically place a table of contents in your newsletter.
Creating your own internal links with an anchor
An internal link consists of two parts that you both place in a ‘Text’ block: an anchor at the spot you are linking to (such as the title of your newsletter) and a link to that anchor (for example with the text ‘to top’).
Use a unique anchor name for each text block, such as article-1, article-2 or top. In the link, put that same name preceded by a hash symbol.
The ‘Source code’ button is intended for text and links within an existing text block, not for modifying the structure of the block. If you add code yourself, you are responsible for the result. The helpdesk does not repair manually added code. See: HTML code in the editor.
Do you not want the link to be underlined? Go to Design → Text and turn off underlining. You can read more about the structure of anchor links in this guide to hyperlinks.
