Configuring text formatting in your newsletter
You can configure the font, text size, text colour and line spacing at two levels in the drag & drop editor. ‘Global design’ (previously Overall layout) applies to all blocks in your newsletter. You can also adjust the formatting for each individual block. If you start with Global design, you only need to set the exceptions per block.
Configuring default formatting via Global design
Click next to your newsletter to open ‘Blocks and global design’ and go to Global design → Middle.
Here, you set the default for all blocks: the text colour, the font, the text size and weight, whether the text is shown as italic or normal, the line spacing and the alignment. You also determine here in which colour linked text is shown and whether that link is underlined.

Click the telephone icon next to the ‘Global design’ heading to configure the design of the text separately for display on a mobile phone.
Adjusting the formatting of a single block
If you want to deviate from the Global design in a single block, click the ‘Text’ or ‘Text with image’ block. Open the ‘Design’ tab and select ‘Title’, ‘Text’, ‘Box’ or ‘Outside’. The font, text size and line spacing you configure here only apply to that block. You can set them separately for the title and the body text. Check the result on desktop and mobile, as you can configure the mobile display separately.
Once you are happy with a block, you can copy the design to the other blocks of the same type or save it as the default for new blocks.
Formatting individual words within a block
While typing, select the text you want to stand out and use the formatting buttons in the toolbar above the text box. For example, you can make words bold or italic, or give them a different text or background colour, such as yellow. Such an adjustment only applies to the selected text, not to the entire block.

Why an adjusted font has no effect
When you copy text from a website or a word processor, its formatting is often copied along into the source code of the block. That formatting overrides your settings in the editor, causing the text to look different from what you expect. Click ‘Source code’ to see what is actually in the block.
You can remove copied formatting in two ways:
Automatic
Manual
Select all the text in the editor and click ‘Remove Format’. Then check via ‘Source code’ whether all unwanted formatting is gone.
Click ‘Source code’: the copied formatting is still in the block.

After clicking ‘Remove Format’, only the plain text remains.

Why some formatting options have disappeared
Previously, you could also set the text size, font and alignment directly within the text. The extra code created for this regularly caused display issues in various email clients: the line spacing could become too small, the font could be lost when aligning, and differences in text size could occur on mobile phones. That is why those options have been removed and replaced by the methods above.
If you still want to use the old options, the helpdesk can activate them for you. To do so, send an email to helpdesk@laposta.nl.
