Letting your subscribers choose their interests

You can let your subscribers specify which topics they would like to receive messages about. There is no separate feature for this: you create an extra field for the areas of interest, have your subscribers fill it in via the edit form, and then use their answers to tailor your campaigns to their interests.

Letting subscribers choose their interests

1

Create an extra field with the areas of interest

In the relevant list, go to Settings → Fields and click ‘Add new field’. Enter the field name, select ‘Multiple’ as the field type and add the areas of interest via ‘Add option’. Under ‘Selectable’, choose multiple options so a subscriber can tick more than one area of interest, and click ‘Save’.

In this example, the field is called ‘Interest’ and the four options are Cooking, Literature, Music and Nature. You can find more information about the other field settings under creating extra fields.

Set up the edit form

In the same list, go to Enrich → Edit and click ‘Start’. Customise the edit form by configuring the fields, texts and design. Make the new multiple choice field required and phrase the question that your subscribers will see next to the options.

Then click ‘Save and to Step 2’ to customise the thank-you page that your subscribers see after submitting. Finish by clicking ‘Save and finish’.

The edit link does not work in the preview or in a testmail. If you still want to check the link before sending, read how you can test the edit link.

Sending campaigns by area of interest

Once your subscribers have filled in their areas of interest, their choices are saved in your list. You can use these in two ways:

Letting subscribers set preferences with a contact centre

If a single field in a single list is too limited, you can have a contact centre set up. This is a custom form that Laposta develops for you to let subscribers specify their preferences. Subscribers can then automatically be placed into different lists, and even into different accounts. Many Dutch municipalities, which work across different accounts from a management environment, let their residents submit their preferences this way.
