How does creating a custom template work?
Creating a Joe template takes about six weeks from design to delivery. Here is what you can expect once your request has been received.
The process in four phases
Mapping out your requirements (week 0)
During an intake session, the designer will map out your goals, branding, desired blocks, fixed elements, and any other specific requirements for the Joe template. This takes place via an online meeting and/or an online form.
Reviewing the initial design (weeks 1 to 3)
Based on the intake, the designer will deliver a draft design as an initial design proposal. You will receive this within three weeks at the latest, though usually sooner.
Processing feedback (week 3)
To have your template ready for use within six weeks, Laposta works with two rounds of feedback. This number is a guideline rather than a strict limit: if two rounds are not quite enough, the designer will work with you to find a solution. Once your comments have been received, the designer will adjust the design until you are completely satisfied. This usually goes quickly. After that, the construction of the template begins.
Gather feedback internally for each round and submit it all at once. This allows the designer to process everything in one go.
Building and testing the template (weeks 4 to 6)
Once you have approved the design, Laposta builds the template in HTML according to the rules of responsive design. Laposta also tests the template extensively across all email clients and on desktop, tablet, and mobile, ensuring your newsletters are displayed properly everywhere. This delivery takes up to three weeks, but is usually ready sooner.
As soon as the working template is ready in your account, you can test it yourself and pass on any feedback. If you have a few minor comments in the weeks that follow, Laposta will of course process those as well.
After delivery, you can put your newsletters together in the Joe editor. If you are still using the previous version, please see working with the legacy editor.
Having derived variants created
Once the main template has been delivered, Laposta can design derived variants, for example for a specific department or project. In terms of content, these variants are based on the main template, with targeted adjustments to the branding such as different colours and logos. The estimated turnaround time depends on your requirements and will be discussed with the designer in advance.
Once you have approved the design, Laposta builds, tests, and delivers the derived variant(s) in the same way as the main template. As soon as a variant is ready in your account, you have two weeks to test the template and pass on any feedback. If Laposta does not receive any feedback within two weeks, the template will be invoiced.
